At Crosby on Eden we actively seek to build a close relationship between home and school. We firmly believe that education is something which is shared between home and school and the more opportunities there are for parents and teachers to meet, the more effective education will be.
Thus, please accept a general invitation to come into school whenever we can be of help to you. Appointments can be made with the class teacher or Headteacher, and messages can easily be passed on by Mrs Wood in the office and also the staff member on duty at the start of our school day. If you would like an informal chat then please do not hesitate to catch the class teacher at the end of the school day.
In addition, there are two official parent teacher consultation evenings each year. One in the autumn term to discuss your child’s progress and consider future development and one in late spring/early summer term. We operate an “appointment system” to enable you to have a private interview.
Parents can become involved in other ways. You will, as parents, be members of the Friends of Crosby School (FoCS). FoCS helps the school in two important ways. It encourages activities of all kinds aimed at promoting the education and welfare of the children, and it assists the school financially in order to supplement and improve equipment and facilities.
You may also be interested in becoming involved with our ‘parent helpers’ scheme in school, taking a supporting role in individual classrooms. Help will always be needed for school visits (especially on our weekly visits to the forest,) and we would always be grateful for extra support to hear readers from 9-9.30am. If you feel like you might be able to help, please contact the teacher directly, or Mrs Wood for more information.
