News

Class 1 have had a fantastic week. We have made the most of the lovely weather by taking our learning outside as much as possible.

The children enjoyed a trip to Talkin Tarn where we continued our learning about seasonal changes and habitats. We were all excited to spot a woodpecker near its nest, as well as a big duck egg. We were lucky to have the chance to help with the beech weaving for the new stargazing pavilion.

Today we released our butterflies! We were very excited to see them fly away – some needed more encouragement than others, but they are all enjoying the sunshine now. We have enjoyed learning about their life cycle and have been doing some writing about them.

We loved our last football session with Nick – it has been great to see Class 1 and Class 2 working so well together.

Class 1 “I loved making pitta pockets at the forest”.

“I’ve had fun playing in the mud kitchen with my friends”.

“Football with Nick was lots of fun”.

“We loved the cricket with Fraser, I can bat the ball really hard”.

“I liked painting pictures with the watercolours, it’s tricky but I kept trying”.

“I like watching the chrysalides. I don’t know when they’re going to be butterflies”.

Class 1 have had another very busy week.

In maths we have been practising our number bonds to 10 as well as comparing numbers and amounts – which number is greater or smaller, who has more than or fewer than. We enjoyed playing number track hopscotch.

We are using our phonics to read longer words and are making our teachers very proud with how hard we’re trying.

We were very excited to see that we have one chrysalis – the other caterpillars are getting very big so we are keeping a close eye on them!

We have been sharing coronation party stories and have produced some fabulous writing about the new King.

Class 1 We have had a very busy week in Class 1!

We were very excited on Monday morning – there was a special delivery for us. We all guessed what might be inside and were pleased to discover it was caterpillars. We are now watching them as they grow and are looking forward to what happens next.

At Forest Schools we enjoyed: painting pictures in the style of Monet; using saws to cut slices of wood which we then decorated; making homes for worms and all our usual activities.

We have finished reading The Runaway Train and have been making up our own stories about the Little Red Train.

Class 1 were all very happy to be back! Here are some of our favourite parts of the week.

“I loved the PE with Fraser – wibbling the jelly and running was my favourite!”.

“PE – I liked running around with the ball”.

“Playing in the classroom with the lions and tigers”.

“Seeing my friends”.

“Telling my friends about my holidays”.

“Making our monster truck – I gave it a big toothy smile”.

Class 1 have had a busy but exciting week. We have been experimenting with salt dough and designing our own egg decorations. We talked about the different patterns we could use and the different colours. We have been outside to look at the different flowers growing in our garden, we then did some observational drawings of them with oil pastels and used them to make our Easter cards, completely independently. In maths we have been working with bigger numbers and trying different ways to help us (moving, crossing out, labelling). We have completed our phonics assessments for the half term and are very proud of how well we are doing. At Forest Schools we enjoyed going on an egg hunt, following on from our book of the week “We’re going on an Egg Hunt).

We hope you all have a lovely Easter break!

Class 1

Nursery - We liked doing drawings of daffodils; we used yellow for the flower and green for the stem.

Reception - In maths we have been doing odd and even numbers.

We are growing cress seeds in our cress heads. We will look at them to see what happens.

Reception - We have got ready for awesome endings this afternoon.

Class 1 We have had a very productive week in Class One.

We have been creating our Mothers’ Day cards – we hope you love how unique they are, the children put lots of thought, effort, and love into them all.

In maths we have been learning our doubles – we have a doubles song to help us!

We are working hard with our sentence writing and have used this to write about different kinds of habitats.

We have begun practising our poem for Awesome Endings – we are trying hard to use our loud voices.

At Forest School we enjoyed making pitta pizzas and making homes for the woodland creatures Mrs Turney had found.

In PSED we have been talking about ways we can help those who help us, and also ways we can help our friends. Everyone came up with lots of lovely ideas. We made ‘Help Pledges’, so hopefully some of you may have some helpers over the weekend!

Class 1 “When Mr Barnes to teach our PE. I liked it all”.

“I liked telling my friends all about my Daddy’s new car, it’s brilliant inside!”.

“When we were doing the Peter Rabbit and Mr McGregor game in PE”.

“Going to Forest School, I loved everything”.

“I liked writing what we had for breakfast and our voting station”.

“We played in the forest and had pancakes from the fire”.

“I loved trying popcorn, we listened for the pop pop pop!”.
