Class 1 have enjoyed their first visit to the woods and getting there on a bus!  We are really proud of our Reception children, who led a collective worship on friendship. In preparation they were able to talk about how to be a good friend and they confidently spoke to the rest of the school.

Class 2 - this week we have celebrated 'World Oceans Day', joining in with a live 'Rock Pool Ramble and Fish Feed' lesson from the 'National Marine Aquarium' , we have also learned the names of the five oceans and seven continents by creating a 3-d models of the world.  On Wednesday, the pupils relished meeting 'Harold' the giraffe, the main character in our PSHE lessons, whilst the highlight were the stars which were projected onto classes ceiling as we thought about the importance of sleep during 'Our Wonderful Body' session.

Class 3 had a brilliant visit from the Life Bus, learning all about the brain. Everyone was really engaged and it was wonderful having an outside visitor into our class. 

We began our new art topic with some amazing presentation of the background of Roman mosaics in their books, investigating mosaic patterns and features.

This week, Class 4 have been really excited about starting our end of year production. They have impressed, with their dedication to learn lines and song lyrics.

We have been looking at ancient Greek artefacts and trying to guess what the artefact was and its use.

We had a visit from the Life Bus, learning about making good choices to keep our bodies healthy. The children demonstrated excellent knowledge and understanding about these issues. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session!

Class 1 have been looking at weight in Maths and have been exploring ‘lighter’ and ‘heavier’ objects.  In RE we have been looking at ‘our wonderful world’ – what makes us special and unique followed by painting some portraits.

Class 2 are relishing learning new computing skills such as typing, inserting images, and amending text as part of their computing this term.  During PSHE, we are talking about feelings and the children came up with sensible strategies to help 'Stretch Armstrong' deal with his tricky feelings. 

Class 3 have been working hard to write and edit their newspaper articles about Pompeii, we are very proud of their efforts. They have also enjoyed sketching some Roman aqueducts in preparation for their D&T project next week. 

A few comments from our Class 4 pupils

‘I have enjoyed investigating circuits in Science and trying components that we haven’t used before like buzzers and motors.  I enjoyed learning about democracy in Ancient Greece and comparing it to modern day democracy’  

'This week, I really enjoyed science (this unit is about electricity) because I have had a good experience with circuits in the past and I really am fond of creating things such as circuits using different components.  Also in maths, we have been learning about scale factors, which is a really interesting and enjoyable unit to learn about’

Class 1 enjoyed their first forest school session in our outdoor area. The children have also been busy writing messages in bottles and making their own repeated patterns.

Class 2 started the week with another exciting visit to the woods where some groups received a letter from 'Willy Woodlouse' asking them to build him a home.  They enjoyed the new parachute shelter, gathering sticks for the fire as well as building upon their safe and skilful tool use, as always Mrs Pattinson finished the day with a fun filled game! 

Class 3 were super scientists last week! Investigating how different surfaces affect the amount of force needed to move an object. They remembered to include variables and ensure they carried out a fair test, recorded their results and drew a conclusion about their findings.

Class 4 have really enjoyed creating a collaborative piece of 'Medusa' artwork for our Myths and Legends topic. We have taken part in Mental Health Awareness Week, to encourage the children to reflect on how they can bring nature into their lives for positive mental health. A snapshot of activities has included: mindful guided meditation, cloud relaxation exercises and a circle time to discuss environmental awareness. (What do we love about being outside? looking after all, we love). 

Class 1 - Children have enjoyed playing outside with their friends.

Class 2 - Year 2 children have been learning some new fractions and Year 1 have found out more about subtraction.  The whole class has been learning the Lord’s Prayer and the hand prayer. In worship time we thought about how we think respectfully about God.

Class 3 - In class 3 children are doing well in handwriting and like it because it is calming and fun to do. PE was enjoyed because it was fun and there was lots of catching.

Class 4 - Children have enjoyed learning the names of different Ancient Greek gods and what their specialties were. In RE children liked learning about the Christian communion. Also, in PSHE the children found out about different types of bullying.

Class 1 discovered that five butterflies had emerged from their chrysalis over the Easter holidays. The children released our class butterflies into our outdoor area.

Class 2 relished their first PE lesson with Mr Rigg, impressing him with their listening skills and enthusiasm for the activities and games in the session.  They also demonstrated excellent sea creature knowledge prior to our fact file reading which is the genre we are focusing on in English, a super start to the summer term class 2.

The children in Class 3 had an excellent first swimming session on Monday and were excellent representatives for our school; we were very proud of them. They have also shown great enthusiasm for the initial chapters of our class book 'The Nothing to See Here Hotel' by Steven Butler and Steven Lentonby by making some excellent predictions.

This week Class 4 have enjoyed researching mythical creatures, everyone sketched their own unique creatures. The children brought their mythical creatures to life - writing wonderfully gruesome descriptions.
