On Wednesday 27th November, Class One visited 'Whinlatter', to bring their 'Favourite Stories' topic to life by visiting the deep, dark wood. There they found the characters from 'The Gruffalo' and even wrapped the 'Gruffalo's Child' up warm so he could go to sleep!

With the Forest Ranger, in pairs, the children made natural habitats for their given woodland animal, as well as learning information about parts of trees and a few leaf names

The class enjoyed talking about objects in the festive, Julia Donaldson inspired class yurt base and playing on the outdoor play equipment

Class 1 have thrived upon Children in Need Day and their Class ‘Pudsey bear hunt’ – they were really engaged with the task of finding Pudsey & Blush!

Class 2 have had a lovely morning (18th Nov) at Carlisle Castle and have received many learning opportunities which tie into their class topic. The children were able to draw upon their learning in school and consolidate their understanding. C2 behaved extremely well during our trip.

Class 3 have spent today at the Woods and it was noted the children’s excellent listening skills were along with being very respectful in the way they were with each other.  All children behaved really well and they were thriving in the outdoor learning environment.

Class 4 have been so engaged in the Christmas production and have been learning their lines quickly and extremely well.  All really positive, good expression, and learning songs before practice!

Boxes of Hope Cumbria

A big thank you to everyone who made a Christmas box for our Boxes of Hope Cumbria appeal. The boxes have now been taken to be shared with children in Romania.

On Wednesday, six children from years 2 to 5, visited Walton and Lees Hill CE Primary School to learn about their School Council because we will be debating whether or not to keep Pupil Voice or change to School Council, where one person from each year group will be part of the council and will meet once a week.On Wednesday, six children from years 2 to 5, visited Walton and Lees Hill CE Primary School to learn about their School Council because we will be debating whether or not to keep Pupil Voice or change to School Council, where one person from each year group will be part of the council and will meet once a week.

Our Recorder Club have got off to a fantastic start with their new found instruments and it’s lovely to hear the sound of music coming from the hall on a Tuesday morning.  Well done girls!

Our KS2 pupils represented school so brilliantly on Friday at the Talkin Tarn Cross Country.  A huge ‘well done’ to everyone who took part.  A special mention to Aidan C who came 1st !  Our boys team came 2nd overall.  Fun runners: Ollie Mac came 1st, Emily and Grace T were within the first three girls back.

Four of our Year 6 pupils attended the Remembrance Service at the Tithe barn, followed by laying a wreath on the city centre memorial yesterday.  The children behaved so respectfully to commemorate the Royal British Legion.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for attending parents evening and for supporting your child/ren with their home from school learning.

During this busy time of year, we have many events coming up – please remember to read the Friday forthcoming events email and refer to our website for dates.

Remembrance

On Monday, children from Class 4 took part in the Remembrance service in Carlisle. After joining the procession through town, they listened to some readings and laid a wreath, which had been made by the children in school. They were then given the opportunity to meet some of the veterans who also took part in the Tithe Barn.
