Teaching and learning celebrations w/c 06/06/2022

Class 1  This week the children have learned about poetry. They have been introduced to the poetry of Michael Rosen and have really enjoyed learning and performing some of his poems. The children have also been observing exciting changes in our tadpoles -many of which are now froglets!

Class 2 This week we have been proud of the children's classification of animals in science.  We positively developed our teamwork and collaboration in our P.E. through passing, turn-taking and encouragement to our teammates.  The class celebrated with our footballers on their return from their friendly match.  We are pleased with their half-term weather recording from a range of places around the country and world.

Class 3 Some of the Year 4 children took part in a football friendly match against Fir Ends School and they won both matches 6-0 & 7-0 – wow, a fantastic effort!
In maths, the class learned about time, including seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months.
The children also completed an Anglo Saxon comprehension in history and learned some fun facts. They also did a weekly SPAG check which included things like inverted commas, expanded noun phrases, prefixes and tenses.

Class 4  have had a very busy week, working hard on writing a formal letter to our local MP, to request more support with providing clean water and toilets all around the world. We are hoping for a reply, to let us know, what more is being done to help this crisis!
Everyone has enjoyed PE with Mrs Dinwoodie, practising their athletics and rounders skills. In Design and Technology, the children have been thinking about useful materials to use to create their own African instrument. Taking into account sound, pitch and appearance. As always, the children have enjoyed their arithmetic session, they love nothing more than seeing their improved scores. Hard work pays off!  Well done class 4.

KS1 and LKS2 footballers It was a great pleasure to take 14 players form class 3 and 2 to 'Fir Ends' school on Thursday afternoon to play some friendly football matches. The players were praised for their sportsmanship, and it was great for them apply their football skills learned into a team again. They were highly successful in their results and a credit to our school.  Well done! Mrs Robinson
