Class 1 – As always, the children have been working extremely hard this week even when they have been tired. The children have been creating their Easter cards, which we hope you like. In Reception the children have been reading Meerkat Mail and have been writing postcards to Sunny the Meerkat. In Phonics we have been continuing to look at longer words and have begun to look at more complex graphemes, e.g. it sounds like ‘iz’ but we
write ‘es’. In <aths the children have been reviewing their 3D shape knowledge, exploring patterns and have even had a go at creating their own patterns. As part of forest school, we explored the Hindu festival of Holi and creating some artwork on a sheet – throwing powder paint to depict explosions of colour, to represent spring and colour. We also reviewed the Easter story, focusing on the message of new life, love and forgiveness, and
even had a little Easter egg hunt in the outdoor space. We have been creating maps, and the children have helped create a picture map of Crosby on Eden and the surrounding areas. In P.E. the children continue to develop their ball skills and balance. The children have also been creating lots of potions and mixes in our outdoors area. In Nursery we have been exploring ‘b’ and have been singing ‘One, two, buckle my shoe’ In Maths Nursery have been exploring the preposition and order, ‘Who is first?’, ‘Who is last?’ ‘in front, behind, next to, under’. We have also been singing some Easter songs in preparation for our Easter Service, we hope you like it! This week Class 2 have been developing their understanding of multiplication and division using arrays, rows, columns, repeated addition and grouping. In English, the children have edited then neatly written up their ‘Wild Thing’ information text. During P.S.H.E. they each thought about money, including the choices we can individually make about whether to save or spend it. Pupils have developed their kicking, dribbling, passing, hitting and receiving skills in our P.E. lessons. We have been finding out about what we have learned this term through our end of unit checks in history and science, as well recalling our previous unit topics in our termly flashbacks. Well done to those members of the class have actively biked, scooted or walked to school this week! Another great week, with our school values shining through each day. Class 3 have had a really productive week and end to this term. The children have been busy recording their Anglo-Saxon presentations, showing great confidence and enthusiasm as they shared their historical knowledge. Most of them enjoyed dressing up in the Anglo-Saxon clothing to do this! In English, they have been working extremely hard on their Iron Man writing, focusing on powerful vocabulary and detailed descriptions. They are amazing! Well done Class 3! Our PSHE lessons have encouraged thoughtful discussions about what it means to be a good friend, how small actions can make others happy, and how to respond calmly and kindly if they see something happening that doesn’t feel right.

We are also incredibly proud of our gymnastics team, who represented the school brilliantly in a recent competition, earning a well-deserved bronze medal. Their teamwork, encouragement of one another, and confidence in a formal competition environment was something to be proud of. Well done to all of Class 3 for their continued hard work and achievements!

Class 4 have had another very productive week! We have completed our newspaper reports, using a variety of punctuation grammar and formal language. The children have loved becoming reporters this half term! Everyone has been very engaged in learning about changes in materials in Science. They have carried out a variety of experiments including: evaporation; melting; condensation and sieving. We have found out some states of matter are reversible. In PE, everyone has improved their skills in Badminton, practising moving into a space, serving, backhand and forehand.)

Well done to the children who achieved their reading target this half term. Year 6 children have attended booster sessions with fantastic enthusiasm and focus, we have been so impressed! The children were amazing as always, and we are looking forward to presenting the Easter Story in the Church this afternoon. Not to mention their amazing singing!
