Teaching & Learning Celebrations w/c 13/04/2026

Class 1- What a week! The children have settled back into the routine so well. The new starters in Nursery have been outstanding, and everyone has been so welcoming.

In Drawing Club, we have been looking at ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ and the children have had a great time describing the story, the setting and evening creating some more treasure that the giant might have.In Nursery the children have been exploring the sound ‘j’ and they have been singing ‘Two Little Dickie Birds’.

As part of Maths the children have been cementing their understanding of doubles and beginning to explore halves, through parts. In Nursery the children have been counting up to 3 and developing their subitising skills.

In Music the children have started the ‘Big Bear Funk’ unit and have been enjoying learning new songs. In P.E. the children have been developing their throwing and catching skills, along with their coordination skills. In PSHE we have been looking at resilience and to keep trying when things get hard. The children have been very encouraging and supportive towards their friends.

On Thursday we had a great afternoon planting some flowers and some peas and we even did a little bit of painting. The children really loved playing in the hammocks and pretending to be caterpillars in chrysalis and then becoming butterflies.

In R.E. have started to explore the Old Testament and which stories did Jesus hear when he was a child.

Thank you for a fabulous week filled with so many memories. See you next week.

Class 2 It was a warm welcome back to Term 5 for Class 2, with holiday news and new topic, brilliant beginnings shared. We started daily, whole class reading fluency and challenged ourselves to a one minute, word count read towards the end of the week, this week’s practice text was ‘Goilidlocks and the Three Bears’. This then linked to our DT structures topic, which is designing a chair for a bear. This week we evaluated the structures of a range of chairs e.g. armchairs, highchair, office chairs deckchairs then matched each chair to the most suitable person (baby, child, adult, pensioner).

In English we are immersing ourselves in the first half of our new text ‘The Secret of Black Rock’, predicting the ending and writing sentences using the associated text vocabulary.

In Mathematics, we have been working on multiplying and dividing by two as well as doubling and halving.

Lacrosse and hockey are our new games units for our P.E. lessons, which we have begun learning basic stick and ball skills in.

A great start to the new term class two, well done!

Class 3 have had a great week back. The children have steeled back into a new seating pan and timetable well.

In Maths, we have been learning about adding and subtracting fraction using the bar model and whole/part methods. It has been difficult at times, but everyone has persevered.

In English, we have been learning about Leaf, the lost Polar Bear. Child have been able to empathise with his experiences and think about how his feelings have changed throughout the story.

Children enjoyed their last Golf lesson in PE before moving into Lacrosse next week.

We've ended the week with DT, designing and making a template for our book cover.

Have a lovely weekend Class 3

Class 4 have settled back into learning with great focus and positive attitudes.

This week, the children have enjoyed making predictions about our new text in English using a variety of clues.

In Science, the children have carried out a variety of practical enquiries to investigate irreversible changes. They collaborated really well in groups, supporting each other to set up and carry out their experiments - recording the findings.

In PE, everyone has enjoyed practising fielding and batting skills in rounders, thinking about tactics and teamwork.

In PSHE, the children have been thinking about their aspirations and how they could achieve these.
