Teaching & Learning Celebrations w/c 12/01/2026

Class 1 Another amazing week in Class 1! The children have worked extremely hard and survived their first full week since Christmas. We have had a busy week, exploring bubbles; welcoming new friends; developing our number skills (finding one more, investigating weight/mass with scales and comparing objects); drawing self-portraits, some more abstract than others); developing our physical development (using our hands for different activities) and so much more. The children’s drive and resilience has been brilliant and we can’t wait to see what adventures we will get up to next week.

Class 2 have been working hard, continuing their shape topic in Maths and sorting 2-D and 3-D shapes. In English we are all enjoying our new book 'Hermelin' and we have been writing some amazing sentences about the missing items. In DT we have been exploring leavers and linkages to make a moving monster. This week we began experimenting with different ways of making linkages and thought about how we could improve them. We have had a really fun, busy week in Class 2, well done everyone!

This week, Class 3 have shown fantastic engagement and enthusiasm across all subjects! In Maths, we explored the concept of area. Everyone worked hard to apply their knowledge in practical activities, making arrays for factor pairs. In French, we enjoyed learning the names of different animals and practiced saying them confidently. Our Science lessons introduced the topic of Light, sparking curiosity and great discussions about how light travels and why shadows form. In PE, we had fun moving like astronauts to create a space-themed dance. We also practiced using canons to build sequences, showing creativity and teamwork. Throughout the week, Class 3 have demonstrated our school values brilliantly! Working together, showing respect, and striving for excellence. Well done, Class 3!

Class 4 have settled back into school with enthusiasm and focus, which is fantastic to see. In English, we have started to make predictions about our new text, looking at clues and listening to soundscapes. The children are sure they know who the main character of the story is, so we'll see next week whether they are correct! In Maths, everyone is working hard learning fractions, showing resilience and perseverance with challenging questions. We have been focusing on showing our working out to help remember taught methods. In Science, the children are showing a keen interest in our new topic (Evolution & Inheritance) they have been researching variations between the same species e.g. animals, plants and humans. In Geography, we have been learning about a desert biome, identifying climate, landscapes, locations, vegetation and animals that live in this environment. The children are collaborating really well in the classroom, helping each other and sharing ideas. Keep the great work Class 4
