Class 1 We have been very busy getting in the festive spirit. Our Drawing Club story was 'The Christmas Pine', a beautifully illustrated book by Julia Donaldson. The whole class have enjoyed drawing their character (the pine tree) and their setting (the forest). In Maths we have been looking at ways to represent numbers 1-5, making our own pages to add to a number book.
We have been getting creative in our craft area, with children choosing to make snowmen collages, stocking decorations and Christmas trees. At Forest School we started to make some decorations using natural materials. We also baked apples for snack.
Rehearsals for the Nativity are going well - you are in for a treat! We look forward to performing for you next week.
This week in Class 2, we've edited and written up neatly our 'How to Catch a Witch' instructions. In Science we investigated which material is the most absorbent. During History we compared the same object from the past and present, considering what's changed and stayed the same for certain items over time, for example old and new roller skates. Pupils enjoyed working on throwing, catching, hitting and rolling in P.E. during a outside hands recap. Newsround's became a popular eight-minute watch alongside a fruity snack following our daily mile this week. We've had an enthusiastic try on for 'Wriggly Nativity' and are nearly ready for our audiences. Next week we are looking forward to sharing our nativity, beginning our crafts and visiting Walby!
This week, Class 3 have been working hard and showing fantastic enthusiasm! We have been busy practising our play, making sure we're ready for the big performance. In English, we edited and wrote up our Calm Guides in our very best handwriting – they look amazing! In Maths, we started our new unit on Multiplication and Division and had great fun practising arrays outdoors, turning learning into an active adventure. Science has been equally exciting as we carried out an investigation into friction. We tested different surfaces and wrote our own conclusions like real scientists! It has been a week full of creativity, teamwork, and curiosity. Well done, Class 3 – you should be very proud of everything you’ve achieved!
Class 4 have worked really hard, making final touches to our production. In Computing, the children have been learning how to create a spreadsheet and using distances from the stages of The Tour De France. In RE, everyone has been thinking about Advent and the role Mary played at this important time. In PE, we continued learning dance choreography, we have some talented movers in Class 4. In French, we are coming to the end of our learning, all about time and dates. Everyone has completed their amazing pieces of writing, they are showing fantastic promise in this year! We have lots of excited children looking forward to Movie Night!
