Teaching & Learning Celebrations w/c 03/02/2025

Class 1 It has been another very busy week, celebrating Children's Mental Health Week and NSPCC number day. Each day the children have been learning about different emotions and trying to link these emotions to their own experiences. Here is a link to some of the videos we have used this week as a starting point to talk about emotions should you wish to take a look. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/articles/zm2st39

A Scarf workshop was enjoyed by all. Harold the Giraffe taught us all about resilience. We have tried different types of Chinese food for snack: noodles, fried rice, prawn crackers, spring rolls and prawn toast, following on from our learning about the Lunar New Year. As part of Number Day we ordered and followed instructions to make our own jam sandwiches for snack. We loved our last gymnastics and trampolining session and were fantastic! Magical Mel came to visit us on Friday, leading a brilliant workshop as part of Mental Health Week. We ended the week with a Book and a Biscuit - thank you to everyone who was able to join us!

Class 2 have learned lots about looking after our mental health this week.  We've have enjoyed our daily BBC mood booster activities, Magical Mel session, SCARF workshop with Sarah when we various learned strategies to manage our feelings such as bee breathing and meditation. Great teamwork was observed as pupils built their towers in DT, with the tallest groups tower being 1meter 13 cm and the straightest tower being the most balanced.  The children enjoyed their gymnastics session, this week they learned and applied the key steps one moves sequence.  In Science we've have been recording the weather on daily basis, including temperature and wind speed.  We're also looking forward to visiting the Woods to observes the seasonal changes from Autumn (when we last visited) to Winter.

Class 3 we have finished our writing all about the river.  What fantastic vocabulary and imagery we have used to describe the setting! We have been using Pixilart in computing to flip and rotate images to create reflections.  Our swimming sessions are going well and we enjoy practising the skills needed to swim well.  We have also had a busy week with Children's mental health week, we have done lots of activities and watched videos about building a growth mindset.  We enjoyed expressing ourselves through our own clothes and interests!  In Science, we are examining different skulls and deciding whether the animal is a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore.  We celebrated number day by dressing up as numbers and taking part in number challenges, we enjoyed exploring numbers in practical ways.

Class 4 have enjoyed their well-being workshop this week, thinking of strategies to help keep their minds calm and stress-free.

The children have enjoyed wearing non- uniform to express themselves and wearing numbers to support Young Minds and NSPCC.

In Design and Technology, everyone worked well in teams when designing and testing gears to find the most effective materials. In Science, the children have created an information leaflet to share their learning all about Earth and Space. The children have enjoyed learning about fractions in maths, using diagrams, bar models and fraction strips to support their learning.
