Class 1 In Drawing Club this week we have looked at the traditional tale 'The Billy Goats Gruff'. We have created our own troll, rescued him from the river and thought about how we could get across the river if the bridge was broken. Lots of fabulous drawings, ideas and codes! In Maths we have investigated length, finding things that are longer and shorter than our pieces of ribbon. We have talked about how to keep ourselves safe indoors and outdoors by being safety detectives. In PE we are becoming more confident with our ball skills and in our physical development sessions we continue to grow stronger, faster and more confident in our balancing and climbing. Our first teams have made their first batches of buns, with the aim being that our children leave Reception able to make cakes with minimal support - they looked delicious!
Class 2 painted in response to music this week then they continued exploring mixing primary colours to create secondary colours and used these to paint circles like the artist Wassily Kandinsky which are on display in our classroom. They 've been writing their instructions for making a habitat for their creature baby in English. During PSHE we thought about feelings and experiences associated with lost and found items. We've started a new addition and subtraction block within 100 with lots of base ten use for adding and subtracting tens and ones. In DT, we explored different joining techniques using tubes and cardboard ready for building our towers next week! Some great movements were observed in gymnastics and dance too, well done Class 2!
Class 3 have had another productive week. They have started writing setting descriptions; showing focus and using the skills practiced to produce some fabulous descriptions. We enjoyed investigating toothbrushes and how effective they are. To do this, we brushed model teeth and timed how long it took to remove the dirt. In geography, we have been continuing learning about volcanoes and earthquakes. We have been enjoying building dung our dance for the U Dance festival. In computing, we created some digital art.
Class 4 have had a really busy week, we have really enjoyed singing with Mr Taylor, the children are really engaged and improving. In PE, the children learnt how to set up goals, avoiding defenders in hockey. Everyone participated well in RE, having some really thoughtful discussions about freedom. In Science, we have been asking questions and investigating why we have seasons. The children created infographics in Geography to inform people why oceans matter and why we should help protect them. In PSHE, we have been thinking about taking risks and how we can deal with pressure from our peers.
Well done Class 4!
