Class 1 have had an incredibly busy week: We've had a trip to Pizza Express to find out how pizzas are made and where the ingredients come from; we had our 3rd trampolining and gymnastics session at the Sands Centre; we celebrated National Handwriting day with lots of mark making and bread decorating - tastiest snack yet! In Drawing Club we've been busy with The Billy Goats Gruff, in Maths Nursery have been sorting 1, 2 and 3 while Reception work on doubles and parts and wholes, and in SCARF we have continued to learn about how we can safe. Well done everyone, you have worked super hard and been amazing.
This week Class 2 enjoyed using the iPads to explore different maps on digimaps for geography and for programming using the loop command during computing. They’ve planned their instructions for creating their habitat and finished off learning about shape in maths. We’ve challenged ourselves to create 3-d shapes using various construction and the geo-boards and elastics bands for 2-d shapes. Pupils mixed primary colours to create secondary colours in art whilst painting concentric squares in art. During P.E. they performed wide, narrow and curled shapes using their big and small body parts. In science, we found out it can take over an hour for an ice-cube to melt. We thought about the different amounts of time our ice cubes took to melt and why this may be, including ice-cube size and outside temperature. Another busy week in class two, packed full of learning!
This week Class 3 have enjoyed swimming and had another successful session. They are demonstrating our school values when out of school. We have been dividing numbers by 1 or itself, we had some fantastic discussions around this concept. In Geography, we have been learning about the earth's structure and how earthquakes occur. We did some fun practical models to demonstrate how the plates move. In science, we are finding out about the function of teeth in humans. We used playdough to create teeth models.
Class 4’s visit to London was an amazing learning experience. We got to witness parliament in full live session, meet Julie Minns and see many other politicians, find out what jobs they do in parliament and how they make important decisions. Westminster Abbey was absolutely stunning so much to see and find out about. The vicar even said a welcome prayer for Crosby school. The train journey was an adventure; the children behaved impeccably. Throughout the day, strangers were commenting on how well behaved they were!
