Class 1 have had a fantastic start to the new term. We have enjoyed exploring the snow and ice, experimenting with how to make it melt and timing how long it takes. We have welcomed some new friends who have settled in well. Our first gymnastics and trampolining session at the Sands was brilliant - everyone tried their best and really enjoyed themselves. In Maths, Reception have explored capacity and are now finding ways to make 6, 7 and 8 while Nursery have been finding out all about shapes.
Class 2 have shared their brilliant beginnings this week linked to their new 'Near and Far' topic. They've been excited by 'Bog Baby' who is the main character in this terms English text. We've began a new shape unit in Maths, with 2D and 3D shape naming, sorting and shape talk as we learn about these shapes and their properties. Pupils have relished returning to their daily mile each afternoon and enjoyed making narrow, wide and curved shapes as part of their gymnastics. The children have chosen new monitor roles to help our class run smoothly and share out jobs within our classroom. A super start to 2025, with lots of holiday news being shared as well!
Class 3 have come back to school after the holiday ready to learn! For our topic of Natural Disasters, we have worked hard on our brilliant beginnings and have created many interesting and entertaining projects. We have enjoyed the videos shared on Seesaw of some of our work and presentations in class. We started swimming sessions at the Sands and really enjoyed these, we look forward to improving our swimming skills over the next few months.
Class 4 have arrived back to school with enthusiasm and focus! We have been busy this week learning about Figurative Language in English, practising using similes and metaphors in our writing.
In PSHE, we have been thinking about bullying, identifying different types of bullying and how to deal with challenging situations.
In Science, the children have been naming and ordering the planets and researching facts.
In Geography, we have started our new topic, finding out why oceans matter. It was lovely to share Brilliant Beginnings with the class; some excellent home learning has taken place over the holidays. Well done!
