Teaching & Learning Celebrations w/c 09/12/2024

Class 1 had a fantastic time performing their nativity to the rest of school and their families, we are very proud of them all!

We have been getting creative, independently making our calendars for the new year - brilliant determination and perseverance from everyone. In Maths we have been investigating mass, working together to order from lightest to heaviest. Outside we have been busy making each other obstacle courses, decorating chalk Christmas trees and drawing snowmen. We have also welcomed some new friends who will be joining us in January.

What a week Class 2 have had! From their 'Whoops a Daisy Angel' dress rehearsal and performances to writing up their setting narrative in their best handwriting.  They've especially enjoyed playing a Christmas themed 'Kim's Game' this week, finding remembering the 12 items was a real challenge! We're especially enjoying our Christmas themed story times and after a snow themed story, the children wished for snow, so we used white chalk to create our own Winter Wonderland on our playground.  In P.S.H.E. we focused on the importance of school rules, whilst in Maths we've worked on number lines from 0-100.  They children are being creative in their daily mile movements from reindeers to angels as well as improved skipping with ropes from some pupils.  Next week we'll be getting crafty to create cards, decorations, and calendars!

Class 3 have worked hard on their play and put on amazing performance of 'Hey Ewe!' Everyone sang their hearts out and rose to the occasion.  We have also been enjoying our class advent calendar, where new books are revealed each day.  These books are part of our class collection of books which can be taken home as daily reading books. This has inspired us to try different texts as our reading choices.  We ended the week doing DT and designing and making a pneumatic toy.  We enjoyed linking our Science knowledge of gases and how air can be a powerful force. In Science, we have explored condensation as part of our states of matter unit and observed condensation on windows, cold cans and from the kettle.

Class 4 have had a jam-packed week with the Christmas Production being a brilliant success! Well done children you were all superstars, what amazing talent we have at Crosby School! We have also been learning about stereotypes in PSHE, thinking about being respectful and everyone having the right to be whoever they want to be. In Maths, we have been recapping our learning over this half term by completing end of unit assessments. In English, we have completed our Narrative Documentaries about 'The Ways of the Wolf' with some fantastic writing. In Science, we have been completing flashbacks, checking our knowledge and understanding of our topic 'Forces'. We look forward to some Christmas festivities next week.
