Class 1 have had another very busy week. We have working hard on our Nativity and are excited to share it with families next week. We were lucky enough to have Mrs Hicks to visit us to tell us all about German Christmas traditions and help us make Saint Nikolaus masks. On Thursday we had our annual trip to Holme Head House which was fantastic, the children were amazing and a real credit to the school, showing kindness, respect, perseverance, and independence. Well done, Class 1!
Class 2's play has improved during the week and they're looking forward to wearing their costumes for their performances next week. They were fantastic at deciding on whether actions or words are examples were unkind, teasing, or bullying situations in P.S.H.E, often with some being more than one. In Geography, we looked at the map of Beamish and then drew our own maps from our school to the woods. In Maths, we have used the base ten to partition tens and ones for 2-digit numbers onto part-whole models and place value charts. From their plan, the children have written their four-part setting descriptions and next week they'll write it up neatly. Pupils have been relishing their daily discussions about advent calendars and mischievous elves!
Class 3 have been working hard to put the finishing touches to our play. On Monday, we enjoyed a day at the woods. We practiced using a compass accurately to find the directions as well as creating a Christmas wreath from elder and holly. We used our whittling skills and tying skills to achieve the final result. We have been editing our diary entries and writing these up neatly. In Science, we have explored evaporation.
Class 4 have really enjoyed rehearsing our Christmas production this week. We have been putting the final touches in place and practising dances, acting, and using BIG voices. They are getting really excited and looking forward to the 'Real Thing' next week. They have loved creating backdrops and props for the performance, which we will enjoy adding to our next rehearsals! In English, everyone has tried really hard writing a narrative documentary based on our amazing quality text 'The Ways of the Wolf' I am looking forward to reading their final pieces. In Science, we have been very inquisitive, asking 'I wonder why?' questions about the properties of materials. In PSHE, we have been thinking about celebrating differences and finding things in common with others. In PE, we have been practising mirroring and sequencing with partners. Have a lovely weekend!
