Class 1 This week we have been busy practising our Nativity songs and choosing our parts, we are very excited! In maths we have been making a 'Book of Zero', which was quite tricky but we persevered. In literacy we have been planning and writing the first part of our 'Lost Star' posters, using our phonics to help us. Our book of the week was 'The Giant Jam Sandwich', we enjoyed making our own flying tractors from lego.
Class 2 started their wonderful week with a ‘fresh’ walk to the woods. At the woods pupils all helped to prepare the sausage pasta and cheese pizza breads, as well as enjoying various activities. We’ve began practising the play and the children have shown great responsibility and enthusiasm in their roles. The highlight this week was investigating our own cement from ingredients such as icing sugar and syrup, so we know what to use for cement when we build our houses from bread in D.T. next week. In Geography, we enjoyed the story of ‘The Storm Whale’ and drew our own maps to match the text. We are engrossed in our class text ‘The Night Gardener’ and beginning to plan our writing. In maths, we’ve came to the end of our addition and subtraction unit, with impressive jumping forwards and backwards on their number lines well used within their mathematics lessons.
Class 3 have been busy planning their Egyptian diary entries. We will be writing them next week. We also had fun mummifying tomatoes in jars with salt to learn about the mummification process. In maths, we have been challenged by the column method of subtraction! In Science, we have learned about solids, liquids and gases. We explored further how liquids flow by doing an investigation into viscosity. Once again, class 3 are showing excellent school values, focus and engagement in all their learning. Keep going!
Class 4 have been busy this week practising lines, learning songs and trying out their acting skills in preparation for the Christmas production. We have been very impressed with the children's commitment to learning their roles.
In History, we have been learning what happened during the Blitz, finding out about 'The Blackout' Anderson Shelters and Fire wardens. In PSHE, everyone has been thinking about fairness and equality. In maths, we have been learning about Factors and Order of Operations. It was lovely to meet with parents this week during parents evening.
