Teaching & Learning Celebrations w/c 04/11/2024

Class 1 The children have settled back in quickly and have been excellent learners this week! A highlight of the week was making musical instruments from man made and natural materials in the woods. They talked about what makes them unique.  Then they had fun making jigsaws of their faces and looking at how each face is different and each face is special.  Mixing up the jigsaws to make funny faces was the best part!

Class 2 I loved Pizza Express.  Bitts Park and Pizza Express were the best.  Having our Pizza picnic lunch.  Playing at Bitts park.  I love dinner time because Mrs Potts cooked the best food.  I enjoyed the trip the most this week.  The best thing was Bitts Park.  I enjoyed dance and gymnastics in P.E.  The things I've loved the most is Pizza Express, P.E., Bitts Park, Maths and English.  I enjoyed Science, decorating the 'Materials' letters with different materials.  I liked learning so much about the Cathedral.  The Daily Mile is fantastic.  I loved our school trip!

Class 3 have started this week with renewed vigour and enthusiasm!  We have started the addition and subtraction unit in maths  - this has involved lots of representations to help us work out and understand our learning.  We have used bar models, part-whole models and place value grids to deepen our understanding.  We have also started studying a book called 'Egyptology' this will be used to produce a 'secret diary' entry.  The beginning of the book has really grabbed our attention.  We have also started using databases and spreadsheets in computing to create a battleships style game.  In Science, we are learning about States of Matter.

Class 4 have had a really positive start to the new half term. Everyone has arrived back at school with enthusiasm and raring to go attitudes to learning!  In PE, we have started our Greek dance unit, where the children choreographed their own sequenced moves in the style of Greek Gods and Goddesses. They shared their ideas and sequences with the rest of the class. In History, we have been finding out about rationing during WW2, the reasons why it was introduced and the impact on Britain. In PSHE, we have been thinking about the qualities we like to see in our friends and why we choose our friends. In Science, we continue to learn about Forces, investigating 'Pulleys and Gears' and creating our own Pulleys to test out.

Have a lovely weekend Class 4!
