Teaching & Learning Celebrations from the children w/c 09/09/2024

Class 1 We have had a very busy science week, with our trip to Temon Farm, our Water Workshop and our Science Booth visit and workshop. Some of our favourite parts were:

I loved seeing all the cows and trying the milk. The milk was very yummy. I liked doing all the baking. I liked helping to pick the apples off the tree and making the crumble. I loved playing in the mud kitchen and playing on the climbing frame. I liked playing with my friends. I liked starting our phonics lessons! I liked having my dinner with my buddy, my buddy is really kind and makes me laugh. The sand pit is my best bit, I dig for treasure.

Class 2 I liked the Science show.  The elephant toothpaste experiment was the best bit.  The Science show was amazing!   I liked making the cupcakes.  I loved making the sandwiches and wraps. Making the cakes was my best bit this week. I loved everything.  I liked the water show.  I loved going to Temon farm.  Petting the bulls was my favourite thing this week.  I liked seeing the sheep.  I enjoyed stroking Kad the sheep dog and Lottie the labrador at the farm. I liked feeding the cows and bulls.  I enjoyed making the tuna sandwiches.  Making butter was fun, we had to shake, shake, shake the jars.  I liked maths.   I enjoyed playing football on the field.  Me too!   I enjoyed after-school club with Carlisle United.   I loved making all the food for the picnic.

Class 3   have had a wonderfully busy and exciting Science Week.  We have experimented with yeast to see which conditions make it produce Carbon Dioxide the best.  We then visited Warwick Bridge Corn Mill to see how flour was milled traditionally.  We also brought back some flour to make our own Shortbread.  We then took part in Water workshops to explore our water usage and how to save water.  At the end of the week, we tasted bread from the Mill and made our own butter to accompany it.  We discovered that shaking cream separates the fat from the liquid and leaves butter and buttermilk.  We also observed melting chocolate and the change in state from solid to liquid and back again.  We finished the week as a whole school, tasting the foods that the other classes had made over the week and celebrating the excellent Scientific thinking that has been happening all week!

Class 4 I have really enjoyed Science week, especially the mad scientist who showed us lots of fun experiments.

We really enjoyed taking part in the Olympics at the woods, archery was our favourite activity.  Burritos at lunchtime were delicious.

I have enjoyed maths because it was challenging.

I enjoyed making sherbet during Science week.

We have enjoyed PE, learning Counter Balancing and Health Related Exercise.

I have enjoyed locating where food comes from around the UK using atlases and Digi maps.

We all enjoyed our visit to the mill, finding out how flour and bread was made, we loved the sweet treat!

In Computing, we enjoyed using Graphic Design to create our own healthy balanced food plate.

In PSHE, we enjoyed 'Collaborating' making towers using lolly sticks, working in a team.
