Class 1 we have enjoyed our moving up day - Reception were excited to tell us all about their adventure to Class 2, and Nursery welcomed some new friends who will join us in September. In Maths, Reception have been busy making their own maps showing how they get to school. Nursery have been reading 'Titch' and shared ideas about what happens as we get older. We have all been working hard to draw our self-portraits - an activity we do each half term - and tried to include as much detail as possible. Fantastic effort everyone!
Class 2 daily highlights were the following, on Monday it was their transition day. On Tuesday it was art, when they enjoyed making collages using a range of media then painting over the top with yellow paint. On Wednesday the highlight was our SCARF session with Sarah and meeting Harold the giraffe! On Thursday they loved the 3D ilearn2 design activities in Computing and on Friday they enjoyed drawing pictures for some special cards. We have focused on friendship in line with this week’s value and different ways to help make others feel happy. The children continue to work exceptionally hard in class and they can't wait to go to the woods on Monday!
Class 3 have been busy writing their explanations texts about 'How to defeat a monster'. They have been using excellent technical language in their writing to become real monster hunters! We have been working on a variety of shape concepts in maths such as symmetry and parallel and perpendicular lines. We had a fantastic moving up day with the year 4s enjoying games such as truth or fib and creating some artwork. Year 3's highlight was a maths challenge of growing patterns, exploring with microscopes and drawing an inside/outside face portrait. We saw Miss Owen off in style by holding a Welsh picnic in her honour. We tasted Welsh cheese, Welsh cakes and Tregroes waffles. We had a blast!
Class 4 have had a very productive week; we have been creating props, painting backgrounds; designing programmes in preparation for the production. We have been fine-tuning our last few play rehearsals. The audience is in for a treat!
Everyone enjoyed their friendship PSHE session. The children took part with enthusiasm and maturity. They had some fantastic answers to some challenging questions. In PE, they have enjoyed playing rounders, improving their batting and fielding skills. In English, the children are really engaging with our new writing 'On the origin of the Species' creating their own spine poems. Everyone is excited about performing next week, break a leg Class 4!
