Class 1 This week Class One have been working really hard in their phonics sessions. Reception have produced some fantastic writing based on our book, 'The Extraordinary Gardener'. We have enjoyed some moments of mindfulness today to celebrate Mental Health Week, with music, colouring and cloud watching. We have also spent time talking about different feelings and why it is important to talk about how we are feeling. Outside we have made some very challenging obstacle courses, supporting each other to keep trying. In Nursery we have been building our houses and making maps to show where they are. We have focused on shape in our maths sessions, and enjoyed making pictures using 2D shapes.
Class 2 relished their afternoon at 'Sands' this week with the gymnastics area being holiday themed. They had to walk along the beam with a rubber ring around their waist, swim (body surf) over yoga balls along with other activities! Next week the children are hoping to earn their level 1 or 2 trampolining award. In Art we evaluated out fish, in History we continued to learn about 'David Attenborough' and his work on reducing pollution and plastic in our oceans. In PSHE we learned about the roles of various body parts and played a game linked to our brain, lungs, heart, arteries, intestines etc. The Year 2’s have independently had a go at reading and maths papers with great perseverance. We are loving our new text in English 'The Last Wolf', which has already produced some super writing. In our daily mile and the children are getting faster and fitter as they practice each day. They're enjoying the field and sunshine, with many having a go at skipping skills during playtime.
Class 3 have had a busy week finishing their beautiful stories about 'Leaf' the polar bear. They have worked so hard on these and have produced some fantastic stories. We have been busy practising Decimals in Y4 and Money in Y3. In Science, we have been observing flowers and then designing a flowers that would attract bees and other pollinators. We have demonstrated our school values this week when we had different adults in school. In Computing, we used an app to create music which was really interesting.
Class 4 This week, the children's attitude to learning has been exemplary. Year 6 have completed their Sat's with determination, confidence, and positivity! They have worked really hard and as their teacher, I couldn't feel prouder. They really enjoyed the pizza party and had definitely earned it! Year 5 have spent their mornings with Class 3 and have shown a really mature attitude with the change this week. Mrs Pattinson and Mrs Ord spoke very highly about the children's independence and hard-working ethos. The children enjoyed painting their African bowls in Art and Design with bright, bold colours. In music, we have had fun practising playing the glockenspiel, learning new notes and following the pattern and rhythm. In Science, everyone enjoyed taking part in a DNA experiment using strawberries. We are really looking forward to our residential next week!
