Class 1 have had a fantastic week. We have enjoyed sharing our recipes from home and are looking forward to making our recipe book. At forest schools we were explorers, looking for different habitats and talking about who might live there. We also made pancakes on the fire, they were delicious! In SCARF we have been learning about money - how we get it, why we need it and how we can look after it. The children enjoyed visiting our shop and spending their pennies wisely. Today we have made the most of the sunshine - making obstacle courses, building castles and making mud cakes. We even found a ladybird!
Class 2 This week we have weaved in DT paper as part of our new moving pictures block of work, at the end of the unit pupils will create a moving Easter card, so please ask them about the moving part! As usual they loved their cricket PE lessons with Fraser, with many pupils enjoying his after-school club too this half-term. Our stories are flowing well having and are close to completion. The year two children have grown in confidence with multiplication and division for the 2 and 10 times table this week and the year ones are developing their tens and ones knowledge of numbers to fifty. The children achieved well on their science weather and seasonal changes end of unit quiz, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the seasons and weather! We welcomed the new season of Spring with an afternoon playtime in the sunshine on the field! We look forward to many more of those as we progress through Spring and into Summer.
Class 3 are currently enjoying themselves at Brathay, they are making some wonderful memories with each other and pushing themselves with new experiences including Ghyll Scrambling & canoeing.
Class 4 have had a fantastic week! Their performances, at Carlisle Cathedral, were BEYOND BRILLIANT! We have such a talented group of pupils, I'm sure everyone, who was lucky enough to attend the concert would agree! We are so PROUD of each, and every one of them. The children's passion and enjoyment shone through.
In Science, the children have been carrying out an irreversible change experiment to observe what happens to bicarbonate of soda and vinegar when you mix them together, I'm sure they will be keen to tell you. Rachel from NISCU visited our class to teach the Easter story through drama/role play. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
In History, we have been learning about the changes in society during the 'Industrial Revolution' including farming, textiles, steam trains and transport.
Have a lovely weekend Class 4!
