Class 1 Our stories of the week have been 'The Leaf Thief' and 'Wow! said the Owl". The children have loved retelling the stories, and made some fantastic posters with brilliant writing and pictures. In maths we have been looking at composition - the whole and the parts that make up the whole. We enjoyed planning, making then eating fruit kebabs, identifying the whole and the different parts. We have also been making our own 2D shapes and exploring printing to make circle pictures. In our SCARF sessions we have been talking about what makes us the same, what makes us different, and why it's a good thing that we are all different. This has linked nicely to our work in science where we have been sharing baby photos and talking about how we are different now to when we were babies.
Class 2 have worked hard this week following on from their trip to Carlisle Castle and Tullie House - the children have begun to write their own castle information books. The children are very excited to be beginning to learn the songs for their Christmas play - yes, it's that time already in class 2. In DT, we worked hard to create structures from paper, and also had a lot of fun.
Class 3 have worked hard this week in class. We have had fun exploring the woods and finding the different physical and human features. We then designed our perfect woodland, complete with waterslides, campfires and lots of trees. We have also been learning about human and physical features in England and Scotland. We played an exciting chasing game and learned new rules. In class, we have been finding out about our Christmas production and listening to the songs. We will be getting our scripts to learn at home today. We have been investigating forces in Science and thinking about resistance of surfaces. We then carried out our own investigations.
Class 4 have showed fantastic understanding in maths this week, working together well and sharing strategies. In PSHE, they showed great maturity and respect when thinking about differences and similarities. We started with our class, moving onto our community then the wider world.
The children have been very eager to learn lyrics and dance moves this week. I am very impressed with their dedication and enthusiasm. Everyone demonstrated respect during our two minutes silence to commemorate Remembrance Day. In Science, we have started a new topic, they loved learning all about 'Blood' and the role it plays to keep us healthy. Reading is going really well with lots of children on track to meet their target, well done class 4!
