Teaching and learning celebrations w/c 22/05/2023

Class 1 have had a fantastic week. We have made the most of the lovely weather by taking our learning outside as much as possible.

The children enjoyed a trip to Talkin Tarn where we continued our learning about seasonal changes and habitats. We were all excited to spot a woodpecker near its nest, as well as a big duck egg. We were lucky to have the chance to help with the beech weaving for the new stargazing pavilion.

Today we released our butterflies! We were very excited to see them fly away – some needed more encouragement than others, but they are all enjoying the sunshine now. We have enjoyed learning about their life cycle and have been doing some writing about them.

We loved our last football session with Nick – it has been great to see Class 1 and Class 2 working so well together.

Class 2 Another busy week in Class 2 with children completing their newspaper reports on Dizzy's actions last week.  Both Year 1 and 2 are now working in fractions in maths.  In art they've worked collaboratively to try and build a sculpture with boxes in art with no glue or sellotape allowed for joining, balancing has been essential during this sculpture block with the clay pebbles proving challenging too!  They've enjoyed lots of physical activity including tennis, football and a multi-skills morning at William Howard School.  They concluded their learning about different astronauts over the year in history and achieved well in their end of unit quiz.  As usual they have loved their sunny playtimes and lunchtimes, a love of Pokemon cards is proving popular with the children.  A big well done to all the pupils this half-term, they have shown great perseverance and positivity with all of their learning, we're already looking forward to next half-term with you!

Class 3 have been super workers this week!  We have really enjoyed computing and creating animations using PowerPoint.  The children are becoming really confident with all of the controls and have created excellent animations.  We have also been busy learning how to tell the time and working out time problems.  Lots of confidence here too!  Year 4s have been working hard to practice and learn the times tables and we are becoming speedier as well as remembering more every day.  Keep practicing these on timestables.co.uk or on TTRS over the half term. We have been learning about life in Britain before the Romans and what happened when the Romans invaded.  It was our last cricket session and we had a brilliant game of cricket.  What a lot of fun we have had!

Class 4 have had a fantastic few days at Barcaple. Everyone challenged themselves throughout the activities, which was great to witness. The children encouraged and supported each other, what amazing team spirit!

They definitely had fun, big favourites were paddle boarding and mountain biking.
