Class 1 have had a busy but exciting week. We have been experimenting with salt dough and designing our own egg decorations. We talked about the different patterns we could use and the different colours. We have been outside to look at the different flowers growing in our garden, we then did some observational drawings of them with oil pastels and used them to make our Easter cards, completely independently. In maths we have been working with bigger numbers and trying different ways to help us (moving, crossing out, labelling). We have completed our phonics assessments for the half term and are very proud of how well we are doing. At Forest Schools we enjoyed going on an egg hunt, following on from our book of the week “We’re going on an Egg Hunt).
We hope you all have a lovely Easter break!
Class 2 have worked hard writing, editing and re-drafting their stories this week. They have improved their singing and memory of the Easter service song words and clapping rhythms. The Year 2’s have maturely begun practising for their SATS and are so enthusiastic about SATs club. The children are learning about mass in maths and are developing their maths talk using caparison vocabulary. In PSHE we were learning about the importance of money and how to keep money safe. The class showed they had remembered lots about living things in the end of unit quiz this week. Pupils have worked so hard this this half-term and have certainly earned a relax, recharge and rest over the Easter holidays. Well done Class 2, super resilience shown this week!
Class 3 have worked really hard this week. We have finished our epic explanations about volcanoes. They had razor-sharp focus in getting their writing edited and re-drafted. Amazing effort! We have also been working on fractions in Maths and everyone is enjoying this and showing great understanding. We have been designing switches in Science/DT and we will be making torches after the Easter holidays. We have also been doing lots of singing this week in preparation for our Easter service. In RE, we learned more about the Easter Story by creating a cross with feelings throughout the story such as despair and hope. We have all earned a good rest now and be ready for a new start and our new topic of Romans.
Class 4 This week, Class 4 have enjoyed practising the Easter service, we have witnessed some beautiful singing and everyone has learnt their lines. In Science, the children have been investigating how light enables us to see colour. They have used coloured filters to test Isaac Newton's Theory.
The children have been writing their own versions of the story 'One Plastic Bag' using everything they have learnt this half term, to be the best authors they can be.
Everyone enjoyed 'Godly Play' led by Mrs Dalgleish, she was very impressed with their ideas and discussion.
Today, the children have created Easter crafts, while they have reflected on the meaning of Easter.
Have a lovely Easter Class 4, you have all been amazing!
