We utilise the DFE’s Letters and Sounds Strategy along with our personalised planning to teach our children Phonics.
In the Early Years (class 1) we use a range of reading books, matched to the phonic sounds that the children are learning, then in Key Stage One (class 2) and Two (classes 3 and 4), we use a wide range of books, using a tool called Accelerated Reader (AR). AR allows children to read a range of books, following an online Star Reader Individual Assessment. Children then complete quizzes, on the books that they have read to demonstrate their understanding.
